Welcome to Maritime Law and Practice, Jakarta 2011.

THE BP OIL SPILL – LESSONS TO BE LEARNT
By Muralee N. Chandra, Manager Risk & Insurance,

WORKSHOP SESSION 1: CHARTERPARTY

This workshop introduces the essential knowledge of charter party bills of lading that participants need to know to ascertain, and also to eliminate, the discrepancies in these transport documents. Case studies and famous court cases are used extensively to demonstrate the common discrepancies and disputes in transport documents from the consultant's work file. Our workshops are known to be inspiring, stimulating, pragmatic, easy to understand and humorous. Participants have high involvement over open forum discussions, led by the facilitator.

WORKSHOP SESSION 2: FUTURE-PROOFING YOUR BUSINESS MULTI-DISCIPLINARY

This is a hands-on practical workshop based on an evolving scenario that requires participants to develop a shipping operation to transport iron ore from Port Hedland in Western Australia to Rizhao Port in China. The scenario will involve the construction of a custom-built vessel in Singapore to managing the operations. What are the aspects for future-proofing this business that will give it the competitive edge from a project perspective and an ongoing business perspective? This workshop will also draw the inputs of facilitators with a legal, insurance, safety and operational background.
